Giving Back: The Silk Road To Hope 2010
Ribbons of Hope

My brother was 33 when he was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away five months later. It happens to men more often than you might think. After moving back to Michigan from Korea, I signed up to walk 60 miles in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, not really knowing too much about the event. To prepare, I walked… and I walked… and I walked. I designed a quilt and sold it to help raise the funds required for my participation. And I learned about the generosity of people I had never met. I learned that more people than I had ever imagined had been touched by breast cancer and each of them had a story to tell. Since those walks, I’ve wanted to be able to reach farther in my efforts to support the search for a cure. “The Silk Road To Hope” is the program that I hope will allow me to do that. Each year, a new pattern will be designed and released specifically for The Silk Road To Hope program and 90% of the profits from the sale of these patterns will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I am thrilled to introduce the 2010 pattern, “Ribbons of Hope”. Buy a pattern and together, we can be a part of the search for a cure! It’s that simple!
It’s simple! Purchase a pattern.
Here’s how it works:
- Purchase the 2010 Silk Road To Hope pattern: “Ribbons of Hope.”
- 90% of the profits from the sale of each “Ribbons of Hope” pattern in 2010 will be donated to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure at the end of the year.
- In January/February of 2011, a new Silk Road To Hope pattern will be introduced and 90% of the profits from the sale of that pattern in 2011 will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and so on.
- When a Silk Road To Hope pattern has completed its cycle as a fundraising pattern, it will be added to our regular collection of designs.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure is one of the largest grass-roots organizations fighting to bring an end to this disease and my hope is that someday, cancer will be something we read about in history books. Buy a Silk Road To Hope pattern and make something special for yourself, for someone who has been touched by cancer or just because you want to be part of something bigger than yourself!
Thank you for joining me in the search for a cure!
